HISTORY
CENTURY 21 has been present in ANNECY since the beginning of 1990s.
In January 2002 the agency was taken over by Claude Guillermin. "Because I have many years of experience and an in-depth knowledge of the profession, I know that supporting the customer and offering him/her a service that provides peace of mind in this important decision, are critical factors in a successful transaction".
In 2006 the agency will be moving to new larger premises. The new premises are on a prime corner site and will enable Century 21 to market all available properties in the large angled window display (14 metres long). The site is ideally located near the Prefecture and the Law Court in front of the entrance to the town centre Bonlieu car park.

Town Presentation

Annecy is one of the first areas in the Alpes to have been populated. 2000 – 3000 years before BC, villages appeared on the shores of Annecy Lake. During the 1st century, a Roman village of 2000 inhabitants appeared. By the 5th century, the route on which the village was lay, was frequented by barbarians therefore the inhabitants of the village (Boutae) moved to a neighbouring hill, certainly Annecy le Vieux, frequenting already established Roman properties. (Annecy appears to have gained its name from one of the properties “VillaAniciaca”).
During the 11th century Annecy town was colonised on the banks of the River Thiou and a fortress was built in the foothills of the Semnoz mountain. The town became a dominant force from the 16th century replacing Geneva as the capital of the region.
TODAY
Annecy is ideally located on the side of the lake with probably the best view of water and mountains in the French Alps. Annecy town is in constant development and the economy is growing with new businesses moving into the area.
Although the town is growing economically with an increasing population, tourism is still its main vocation and remains very human in its ‘feel’.
THELAKE
Considered to be the cleanest LAKE in Europe, the lake of Annecy, jewel of the Alps of Savoy, is surrounded by mountain summits which frame the deep blue colour of the water. There are two different basins, the large lake in North and the small lake in the South. Annecy Lake is fed by various rivers, the main one being ‘the Dead River’ but more curiously by an unknown source under the lake at a depth of 82m.
The river Thiou is the Lake’s major outlet which flows into the centre of Annecy. Along the shore of the large lake are many villages and hamlets providing a picturesque landscape amongst the numerous trees, flowers and vineyards. The small lake is surrounded by steep wooded hillsides which appear to plunge directly into the water making a more wild landscape.

ANNECY LE VIEUX
The dominant park overlooking the lake was a place of inspiration for Gabriel Fauré who stayed in the nearby house Dunant which isnext to the Roman bell tower of the XII century.
